Intimate Encounters for Married Adults
By Jim Bingaman
Judi and I had been married 30 years, had raised a son and daughter, had sung out of the same hymnal for 19 years, but after the first hour of Dr. David and Teresa Ferguson’s “Intimate Encounters” teaching, we realized that we really didn’t know one another like we should and could. As they continued to share Biblical principles related to husband/wife and parent/child relationships we began to understand the basis for a lot of the pain that we had caused and experienced in our relationship. Their teaching also equipped us with how to experience healing of past hurts, and resolution of issues from the past, (even “family of origin issues”), and issues that continue to come up in our relationship. We learned that when a person’s needs are generally met in the proper relationships, it results in that person having healthy thinking, healthy feelings, resulting in normal, healthy behavior.
That was in 1992 and as we’ve applied these principles in our marriage, we’ve more consistently experienced and enjoyed what God intended the husband/wife relationship to be. The Lord has given us a burden to see more couples experience and enjoy their husband/wife and parent/child relationships as God intended. Over the years, we’ve been especially blessed to see and hear testimonies of good marriages strengthened for future challenges, bad marital relationships reconciled, parent/child relationships greatly improved, along with couples equipped to help other couples in their spheres of influence with their relationship challenges.
The Intimate Encounters Series will acquaint you and equip you with:
• How to communicate with each other
• How to experience healing from past, present, and future hurts
• How to empty the negative emotions out of your “emotional cup” in order to make room for positive emotions
• How to leave your Father and Mother to achieve Marital Oneness
• How to become Friends, Lovers, and Saints through Marital Intimacy Disciplines
Judi and I, along with Dennis and Pam Werry are looking forward to sharing the “Intimate Encounters” teaching with you. The series will begin on Sunday evening, September 13 at 5:00-7:00 PM. Childcare will be provided. There is no charge for taking the series (there is an optional workbook available @ $15.00 each). This is not limited to Cottage Hill families only, so feel free to recommend this to other couples that you believe would benefit from this series. A registration table is in the Atrium on Sundays and Wednesdays where you can secure more information and sign up for the series. Please contact Jim Bingaman @ 344-9902 or email: jbingaman@cbmc.com if you need additional information or to register.
