Our goal is to challenge our members that are in "The Second Half" of life to make it their best half! No conversations about rocking on the front porch will be found here! Our members are encouraged find out what God wants them to be doing in their "Second Half" and then help enable them to do it!

Giving every person "Hands on" Mission Opportunities is a goal for all who comes through this ministry. What talents do I have and where can God use me in this stage of my life; is a question we ask them to consider? Adults have given money to missions for years; but a hands-on missions experience will change their lives forever. We have members on the mission field 55+ and others who throughout the year are going on short term mission endeavors. We have a dedicated group of adults who carry meals to those in our area who cannot make a meal for themselves….and the list goes on. It's all about making a difference for God in our world in what we think is the best half of your life.

 

Bible Study and Discipleship
These are areas that you would think that one would have down pat by this age. Not so! We are to study God's Word as long as we have breath. Issues facing the 55+ population today are not the same as a few years back , but God's Word is the answer to each of these problems. We provide Bible study for couples and singles in the 55+ area.

Issues Facing those in the "Second Half"
More grown children are returning home to live with their retired parents due to divorce, job loss and other circumstances. More grandchildren are being raised by grandparents than ever before. Between 1980 and 1990 the proportion of divorced adults over 65 doubled. One half of the persons today over 65 are single, with women outnumbering men by a 3-to-1 margin. Care-giving, Alzheimer's, long term health care options and the list goes on. At Cottage Hill we are trying to provide seminars and or special events that will address a lot of these issues.

 
Fun and Fellowship
You may have heard it said, "Wherever two or more Baptist are gathered together, there is food". It’s true here at Cottage Hill. We love to have fun and fellowship. We have a weekly choir for those who love to sing. We provide monthly "in-church" programs for those who are not able to get away out of town for other special trips. For the 55+er's who are "on the go, in the know, heidi-ho"; we provide fun day trips to places such as New Orleans, Panama City Beach and extended trips to destinations such as Pennsylvania, Branson, Gatlinburg, Alaska, Hawaii, Italy and etc. There is something for everyone!
