Prayer Walk

“Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.”  (Joshua 1:3 NASB)

CHBC Prayer Walkers walk neighborhoods in the West Mobile community. As we walk, we pray for homes and families we pass by, praying as the Holy Spirit gives us insight. Call our office at 251-660-2422, ext. 2251 to sign up

Here is what Prayerwalkers are saying.

As my wife and I and another couple were praywalking a west Mobile neighborhood, a couple walked toward us and asked what we were doing.  We told them we were prayerwalking their neighborhood.  The lady responded by extending her hand and asking for prayer.  We were able to join hands and pray right there!

One night I was restless and could not sleep so I walked outside.  I heard a loud noise that sounded like a gun shot.  The following morning I learned that one of our neighbors had committed suicide.  It was a startling reminder to me that there is so much hurt all around us.  Now I prayerwalk my neighborhood, praying for each family as I pass their home.

What is Prayerwalking?

The focus of prayerwalking is on prayer, not the physical movement of walking. It’s praying on-site and in response to what you see and hear.  It’s not more powerful than other types of prayer, but prayerwalking prepares the way for effective ministry and evangelism.

What Happens When We Prayerwalk?

  • We conquer fear/apathy regarding people/the community
  • We come sensitized to the REALITIES of people/the community
  • Our heart gets connected TO people/the community
  • The “fragrance” of God is brought into the community
  • The “imprint” of God is left on the community
