Announcement of Jesus’ Birth

Scripture Reading: Matthew 1:18-25

Joseph was in an uncomfortable and embarrassing situation when he discovered that his future wife, Mary, was pregnant. He considered the possibility of divorcing her quietly, so as not to expose her to public disgrace. But the Angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. The Angel shared the news that this child was the Son of God, who was sent to save us from our sins, and that he would be named Jesus.

Joseph still had a decision to make after hearing from the Angel. Would he believe God while many others would not? Would he subject himself to possible ridicule? Joseph made the choice to believe and obey. He took Mary as his wife, and he named the child Jesus.

How many times does God ask us to do something that may be tough or might even cause us to face rejection? How many of us have the faith to make the decision to follow God’s calling, even when others would advise against it? Joseph’s reaction to the Angel’s announcement is an excellent example to us.

Countless lives were changed because Joseph followed God’s will for his life. The Christmas season is significant in many ways, and it is an extraordinary reminder of what God can do when we accept His calling on our lives. Joseph followed God’s plan, and his life, along with generations to come, was blessed because of his obedience.

Prayer: “Father, give me the courage and strength to make the right choices today, regardless of what the world thinks. Thank you for loving me and guiding me toward Your will.”
