Scripture Reading: Acts 4:12
That very first Christmas, all of heaven was holding its breath with anticipation, watching and waiting for the moment to break out in praise and worship at the birth of Jesus. As much as we celebrate Jesus’ birth at Christmas, we cannot forget to celebrate why Jesus was born.
The tiny hands and feet of the baby in the manger were the same hands and feet that would be nailed to a rough-hewn cross. When Mary wrapped him in swaddling clothes, it was a portent of the grave clothes she would put around Him as they laid Jesus in the tomb. The distance from the manger in Bethlehem to the cross in Jerusalem was just a few miles, but in that short distance, eternity hung in the balance.
Jesus knew all along that God’s plan would lead Him to Calvary. If He had been disobedient and selfish, you and I would have no HOPE today. God’s plan would remain unfulfilled, and our world would be totally lost. But Jesus wasn’t disobedient. He humbled himself even to the point of death on the cross (Philippians 2:8).
Therefore, God has given Him a name which is above every name!
Worship Jesus the Savior … He is the HOPE GIVER!
Prayer: “Jesus, You are my hope for salvation and I praise You. Thank you for your unfailing love. Yours is the name above every name and I worship You alone.”
by Beth Havard
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
