Welcome to Cottage Hill
We gather together on Sundays to worship Him with passion and we scatter throughout our community sharing the hope that only Jesus can bring.
Love Where You Live!
Each year as the Christmas season comes around, we look forward to putting up a tree, giving and receiving gifts, and participating in other traditions that make this such a wonderful time of year. But often the most significant aspect of the season – remembering the coming of Jesus – grows old and familiar.
Our staff and lay leadership have written four weeks of daily reflections; a reading for every day that corresponds with the four themes I will be teaching on Sundays. Our hope is that this Advent, you will focus on the story of a peasant girl who gave birth in a stable to a child whose life, death and resurrection would change the world!
Scripture Reading: Luke 1:39-45
Before Mary and Joseph knew the role they would play in God’s plan, Mary’s cousin Elizabeth learned that she would give birth to a son. Elizabeth and her husband were both older, and Elizabeth was barren. God answered their years of prayers and blessed them with a child. What miraculous news this was!
Six months into Elizabeth’s pregnancy, Mary learned that she would give birth to Jesus, the Son of God. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s incredible news, both she and her unborn child were overcome with joy and filled with the Holy Spirit.
Even though Elizabeth was eagerly anticipating her own long-awaited child, she saw the significance of the birth of Jesus. How often do we let our own plans get in the way of what God is doing? Just like Elizabeth did, we need to stop, set our own lives aside, and recognize the life-changing importance of Christ. Even though we have plans and goals, God is in control. Even when life is a whirlwind, Jesus is King.
Prayer: “Dear God, thank you for who you are and all you do for me. Thank you for the blessings you give me and the plans you make for me. Help me to keep my eyes on you, even in the busy seasons of life, and to remember that your plans are greater than my own. I love you and praise you. Amen.”

“And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.”
